I've been a professional software developer for over 20 years, and a hacker and tinkerer for even longer. I've moved from financial analysis on large banking systems, to juggling around medical data, to performing financial sensitivity analysis for bank overseers, to building games and interactive installations, and back to solving data problems. I'm currently working as a CTO-for-hire at Numergent, assembling and leading dev teams for large projects.
I give talks and workshops rather regularly. Some samples you can see online are:
The Hairy Road to Hairy Tales: 10 minute talk at Casual Connect Hamburg about the development and launch of Hairy Tales https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4deHVSyWqw
Multi-kinect motion tracking and Interactive installations: 35-minute masterclass at Nucl.AI '15 in Vienna http://archives.nucl.ai/category/nuclai15-masterclass/ (might require registration)
Clojure All The Way Down: A 1 hour talk at the Bucharest Functional Programming MeetUp about the Clojure programming language http://bucharestfp.ro/2015/10/21/clojure-all-the-way-down-finally-a-useful-lisp/ (and from that Ionuț G. Stan mentioned, their most popular talk so far)
